Pelindo Launches Marina Tourism Center at Bali Maritime Tourism Hub
State-owned PT Pelindo has announced plans to build a marina tourism center at the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH), situated in Benoa Port, Bali. This project supports Indonesia's ambition to strengthen its role in the global maritime industry.
Pelindo’s President Director, Arif Suhartono, explained that the marina aligns with Indonesia’s maritime vision. He noted that it would offer a blend of comfort, premium services, and world-class infrastructure, adhering to international standards.
The marina will include 180 docks, capable of accommodating over 50 super yachts, each up to 90 meters long. The facility will cater to both private and shared yacht charters, offering varied options for maritime travelers. Suhartono mentioned that operations are expected to start in the second half of 2025. The project aims to enhance the butterfly route cruise circuits, connecting key ports such as Tanjung Emas, Tanjung Perak, Gilimas, Labuan Bajo, and Raja Ampat.
To promote BMTH, Pelindo organized the "Sail to Indonesia Goes to BMTH" event from October 2–4, 2024. The event saw over 50 yachters from various countries joining the Sail to Indonesia Rally.
Joko Noerhudha, President Director of Pelindo's sub-holding SPSL, expressed hope that the event would generate sustained interest in BMTH. He stated that the hub could position Indonesia as a leading maritime tourism destination. He also emphasized the event’s role in drawing both yachters and public attention.
Noerhudha also highlighted the event as a platform to showcase Indonesia's rich cultural heritage and maritime tourism potential, including opportunities for yacht charters.
During the welcoming ceremony, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi praised the event. He confirmed his ministry's support for Pelindo's efforts to improve maritime and logistics connectivity.
Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno echoed this sentiment. He pointed out that Bali could use this opportunity to promote Indonesia’s maritime tourism and attract both international and domestic visitors.
