New Direct Flights to Bali Proposed by 13 International Airlines

Thirteen international airlines are planning to introduce direct flights to Bali , targeting major markets such as China, Russia, Japan, India, and the United States. These routes are currently in the proposal stage. Handy Heryudhitiawan, the General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Bali Airport, shared that some airlines have submitted requests for regular flight slots. While these requests have been made, the services have not yet commenced. Several airlines , which secured slots for the 2023 dry season , have yet to begin operations. “T hey are required to reapply for flight approvals, including their schedules and the type of aircraft they intend to use, ” Handy explained.  The airport is still awaiting confirmations on these proposed plans. AirAsia Debuts Direct Flights from Kuala Lumpur to Labuan Bajo

AirAsia has officially launched direct flights between Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) and Komodo International Airport (LBJ) in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia. This new service makes AirAsia the first international airline to fly directly to the island, renowned for being the home of the rare Komodo dragons.

The first flight touched down in Labuan Bajo on September 3, 2024, starting a regular thrice-weekly service.


This new route provides more than 4,000 seats weekly. It is expected to support tourism growth and stimulate the local economies of both Indonesia and Malaysia.


According to AirAsia, the new route will likely draw more visitors and create a positive impact on local communities. With the Fly-Thru service, travelers from Asia and Australia can now reach Komodo National Park and Flores island with just one stop in Kuala Lumpur.


Dato’ Captain Fareh Mazputra, Managing Director of AirAsia Malaysia, spoke about the significance of Indonesia as a major market. He also expressed plans to collaborate further with AirAsia Indonesia to enhance tourism and trade between the two countries.


Mazputra highlighted that AirAsia's 28 direct routes between Malaysia and Indonesia have already transported over 7 million passengers, boosting regional tourism and the economy. The airline is looking into expanding direct connections between the two nations.
